INSTRUCTIONS
Progress:
Week 0:
Few months before our semester Iman and I met up to talk about our final year project app idea. We listed a few of the ideas down.
Initial ideas:
- Organisation
- Design prompt generator
- What to eat/do
- Dating app
- Friend app (where to eat, what to do, picture sharing, spending tracker)
- App for when there is any supernatural disaster that helps people in Malaysia
After that our internship started so we didn't have much time to discuss our work.
2 weeks before our semester started, Iman and I called to discuss and finalise our idea. We decided to create an all-in-one goal app that helps to plan, visualise, track and summarise your goals. After finalising the idea, we immediately started on the proposal. We also consulted with Ms. Anis regarding our idea and for her to direct us to the right direction. We were told to do user personas and we tweaked our idea according to her feedback.
We made 3 different user personas of different ages according to our target audience.

We also finalised our proposal and our key features in our app.

Week 1:
Then came the first week of the semester. On 3rd Jan, we had consultation with Ms. Anis & Mr. Shamsul where they gave us useful and detailed feedback for us to improve our app. We used the feedback to tweak our idea and also started on our app's branding and user flow. We delegated parts of the user flow to each person so we would finish it quicker.
On the 5th of Jan, Iman and I met online to finalise the user flow. Then immediately started on the low-fi prototype. We did the first 2 pages first. I did the homepage while Iman did the start up section. We both of course helped each other do some parts of each others' section to further improve the design and also work faster. On 15th Jan, once we had a solid layout, we moved on to the next two pages. I did the camera function and Iman did the vision board.
Week 2:
On 10 Feb week 2 of the semester, we had consultation again + asked opinions from ours friends. We also discussed what we could improve on, then improved/finalised our homepage, and completed camera.
Fig 1.5 Vision board section
We also had a list of names for our app to change from our original name which was initially "Rebrand". We asked for Ms. Anis' opinion and she liked "ididit" so that was when we confirmed our app's name.
On 11 Feb I created a mini plan for us for the next few days to speed run the assignment as the following week would be CNY week and I would be away.
Plan:
Complete today (11 Feb):- Make pop up for maximum amount of goals ongoing
- Components for tabs sliding animation
- Can do simple layout of cancelled and completed goals
Another day:- Make add goal in another flow because it will clash with our maximum goals now
- Active goal can do now
- I started working on goals, Iman continued completing the vision board
- Wrote down the user flows we would make complete prototypes for.
On 13 Feb, I met with Iman at school to do the last section which was the profile page and finish up our low-fi and standardise things which are listed below. I worked on the profile page and Iman worked on the visual timeline of the goals page. At the end of the day we completed one whole flow for the low-fi!!
Things to standardised in the prototype:
Transitions:
* Next page: Slide in, <, gentle, 800ms
* Return to previous page: Slide out, >, gentle, 800ms
* Switching between tabs: Smart animate, Ease out, 300ms
* Middle Pop ups: Instant
* From bottom pop ups: Move in, background 50%, Ease in 500ms
Buttons:
- Big Buttons: Mileast, 20/22px
- Small Buttons: Mileast, 14px
We also finalised our rewards section idea, which was to get sponsors from brands to give vouchers whenever a user completes a goal. The user would have to submit their finished goal for review then only they could claim their voucher.
The next day, we started the high-fi prototype for this first flow. We didn't have a lot of time so once we had at least one full flow done for the low-fi we started with the high-fi right away and worked from there. We changed our colour palette because we felt like it didn't pop and come together. Our board became so messy because we were discussing how our colour palette should look like.
Fig 1.9 Colour Palette Discussion
After that, we finalised our high- fi for onboarding, log-in, sign-up and homepage. Through out the change of low to high-fi, we changed quite a lot of things as well as we saw many things that could be improved or didn't suit our app. Iman and I worked closely together for the high-fi as deciding on colours was hard and having two minds working together is always much faster.
Week 3:
Week 3 cny week:
- A bit busy with cny, but still worked with iman on the high-fi from time to time
came back from kampung 19-20 Feb:
- Change a bit of the profile page
Completely camera section with a fake camera. I wanted to follow a tutorial that added a video in the prototype, but I didn't have Figma pro account therefore I tweaked it a bit and used a GIF instead which worked well but couldn't take the pic at the exact frame.
Week 3:
Consultation Day:
- Listed down what we had to change or add according to the feedback given
- Started working on improving our flow by adding details that we previously left out
Rest of the week:
- Added features/little details that were missing
- Redesigned our homepage (Chose between green and blue)
- Feedback said that it wasn't good so changed again. I redesigned a completely new layout with different colours and fonts and layout.
- Iman also tried changing the colours then Ms Anis said try using my colours and style on Iman's layout.
FEEDBACK
Week 0 - 30 Jan: (Ms. Anis):
Maybe can specify what type of goals the app can help with (Go into broad categories [e.g health] )
USP: Focuses on visual tracking feature
Produce niche differences compared to what is already available (How is this app different from FB, IG etc)
What we currently have is very broad.
Identify what our project objective is (What we intend to do to create?)
Come up with user personas
Summarized version of our proposal like last time, more clear cut:
- Branding = design logo, colour scheme, typeface
- User experience we wish to include that makes it different from the other apps (e.g how this AI feature is going to work visually, how the visual tracking works)
- How do you intend to capture the UI with the prototype
- Concentrate most on MVP (Most visited page)
Week 1 - 3rd Feb:
Mr. Anis:
Relate everything back to User experience (how does it affect it)
Home page can be visual of me doing something (like a highlight of the week) must sell of the hero section. Build a chain reaction.
Start branching out the flowchart.
This device needs access to your camera (make a pop up).
Video demo mock-ups show the camera taking feature.
Who will be our majority of users and how will our design translate?
Change the name of the app (Something that has a zing and relates to the actions used in the app)
Mr. Shamsul:
Don't overwhelm the user, control the amount of features. Must meet the purpose of the app flow.
Summary should be in a form of a video
Use the data you gather (through visual tracking) for something (goal wrap)
Week 2 - 10th Feb:
Ms Anis:
- The "ididit" name is best
- Can u access active goals right away from the home page?
- Layout of the visual compilation, either a full calendar or just pictures (Personalised experience with your app)
- How does it feel when u take a picture, is it included in your brand design.
Mr Razif:
- The visual tracker isnt very highlighted in the low-fi.
- What is the experience, how does it look like? If not itll just look like a photo album.
- You need a feature that makes people want to come back, something that really highlights the app.
- Refine this until it becomes interesting enough for people to to recognise the app.
- Focus and expand on the key feature, make it a selling point.
Mr Shamsul 10 Feb:
- Share your achievement, this app creates a video for you (Very meaningful).
- The app should constantly remind you to take pics, let users choose daily weekly etc.
- Choose a colour to differentiate/represent your goal for visual tracker.
- Preset vs personalised goal
- Don't give users too many options to avoid overwhelm
- Can make the post unable to unlike
- Add keywords when posting pictures and also when creating a goal.
